About Revelstoke
Revelstoke is a vibrant, historic, and welcoming community of about 8,000 people. Nestled between the Selkirk and Monashee mountains, in an interior rain (and snow!) forest, Revelstoke is the perfect spot to enjoy summer and winter outdoor activities for all ages and abilities. The city is proud of its history and culture, and within the Museum you will find many opportunities to learn, discover, and explore. Downtown Revelstoke features many restored heritage buildings, and Grizzly Plaza, which opened in 1987 as a public square.

About the Museum
Revelstoke Museum and Archives offers a variety of ways to engage with the history of the region. Visit our peaceful and lovely Heritage Garden and immerse yourself in the sights and fragrances of the plants. Step inside the museum to discover the rich and sometimes surprising history of Revelstoke. Wander through the two floors of engaging exhibits, and try our quizzes, and leave your feedback and comments. Younger visitors may enjoy the Scavenger Hunt, and the activity area on the second floor. Looking for information or photographs? Our archives staff will be happy to help you find what you are seeking.

Our Curator
Cathy English has been curator of Revelstoke Museum & Archives since 1983 and has spent that time absorbing the history of this area into her brain. She loves sharing her knowledge about Revelstoke’s history through the Brown Bag History talks, walking tours, school programs, books, and exhibitions. Ask her about her favourite local characters, and prepare to hear some entertaining stories.
A Building with a history
Our beautiful building was constructed in 1926 as the Revelstoke Post Office and Customs, on a site chosen in 1910 by Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier. The building became home to Revelstoke Museum & Archives in July 1974.
