City of Revelstoke Heritage Panels Tour

Learn about the history of Revelstoke through the Heritage Panels situated throughout Revelstoke. Eight of the panels are situated along the paved Revelstoke Rivertrail which stretches from the Revelstoke Community Centre all the way along the trail to the Mark Kingsbury Bridge over the Illecillewaet River. Additional panels are in location throughout the community, and can be found on the map linked below.

  • Columbia Park - located at Revelstoke Golf Course on Columbia Park Drive. History of Columbia Park, horsing racing, fall fairs, and the Revelstoke Golf Club.

  • Highways Revelstoke to Golden - located in Woodenhead Park. History of the former Big Bend Highway, and the Rogers Pass Highway.

  • Farwell Townsite - located on the trail between the CPKC Railway Bridge and the Big Eddy Bridge. History of the original Farwell Townsite from 1885.

  • Farwell Park - located in Farwell Park, 1401 First Street West. History of Farwell Park.

  • Revelstoke Courthouse - located on the grounds of Revelstoke Courthouse, 1123 Second Street West. History of the historic Courthouse.

  • Ski jumping in Revelstoke - located at the Circle of Champions on the road above Revelstoke Railway Museum. History of ski jumping on Mount Revelstoke, and the Tournament of Champions.

  • Revelstoke National Park - located on the trail above the Circle of Champions. History of Mount Revelstoke National Park.

  • Queen Elizabeth Park - located in Queen Elizabeth Park, 219 Ninth Street East. History of the Park.

  • Sternwheelers of Revelstoke - located outside of Revelstoke Community Centre, 600 Campbell Avenue. History of the sternwheel boats that operated on the Columbia River.

  • Railway in Revelstoke - located on the trailhead at Centennial Park, Campbell Avenue. History of the construction and operation of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

  • First People in Revelstoke - located on the river trail at the end of Centennial Park. History of the Sinixt people.

  • Forestry in Revelstoke - located on the river trail, beyond the Workers’ Memorial. History of the forest industry.

  • Farming in Revelstoke - located on the river trail. History of agriculture in the region.

  • Electricity in Revelstoke - located on the river trail. History of electrical services in Revelstoke, including the first dam on the Illecillewaet River in 1898.

  • Gateway to Arrowhead - located on the river trail near the trail leading to Mark Kingsbury Bridge. History of Arrowhead, a community south of Revelstoke.

  • Heli-Skiing in Revelstoke - located on the river trail near the Mark Kingsbury Bridge. History of the Heli-ski industry.
