It’s time for LIFT-OFF: Revelstoke Museum and Archives is getting an Accessibility Lift!

 After years of planning, a vertical platform lift at Revelstoke Museum and Archives is getting closer to becoming a reality!

The 1926 heritage Post Office building has been home to the museum since 1974, but it was not built with accessibility in mind. The building has stairs to enter the main floor, and even more stairs to the second floor. This is an insurmountable barrier for many people, and has stopped people from accessing the museum exhibits and programs, such as Brown Bag History.

We acknowledge the support and cooperation of the City of Revelstoke, who owns and maintains the building. We could not achieve success for this project without their contribution.

$620,000 has already been secured through grants, but a fundraising campaign is also underway to help raise the remaining funds. With an estimated cost of over $700,000 this project is a major undertaking! Our goal is to raise $100,000 through community donations to fund the remainder of the lift not secured through grants.

Donations can be made by coming in to the museum, or online through Canada Helps, a secure forum for donations to registered Canadian non-profit organizations. Donations made through Canada Helps automatically receive a tax receipt. In-person donations are also eligible for tax receipts.
