Yae Takahashi (nee Katsuma) [Unknown]

Choichiro Takahashi [1880 – 1957]

Sue Takahashi [1897 – 1974]

Choichiro Takahashi was born on April 17, 1880, in Japan to Shotaro and Yae (nee Katsuma). He was a section man for the Canadian Pacific Railway, coming to Revelstoke in about 1910. Based on Yaeko Hayashi’s (nee Wakita) oral history, it’s likely that he rented his place as a boarding house for people who arrived in Revelstoke during internment.

Sue Takahashi (nee unknown) was born on December 5, 1897, in Japan.

Choichiro and Sue lived on 120 Robson from 1928 to 1963 or 1964. They had three sons: Egi, Tokutaro, and Ryozo. Egi died in 1929 at the age of 16, following an operation for appendicitis. He was referred to as a brilliant student and was noted as being very popular with his schoolmates. Tokutaro died in January of 1946 at the age of 34. He had been employed with Gallicano’s bakery for several years. He left a wife and two children.

Choichiro Takahashi passed away on November 6, 1957, in Tranquille, BC, at the tuberculosis sanitorium.

Sue lived on 809 Mackenzie Avenue after Choichiro passed away from about 1963 or 1964 until 1974. Sue passed away on September 8, 1974, in Revelstoke, at the age of 76.

Ryozo (Leo) Takahashi [1915 – 2000]

Iku Takahashi (nee Miki) [1916 – 2005]

Sho Takahashi [1941 – 2022]

Hozumi Takahashi (nee Nakamura) [1942 – Current]

Ryozo (Leo) Takahashi was born on March 15, 1915, in Revelstoke, to Choichiro and Moto (nee Kawabata). He lived in Revelstoke for most of his life, except for a few years spent in Japan. He was a baker for Gallicano’s Bakery for many years and owned the business for five years. He married Iku (nee Miki) and they had two children: Sho and Ayako.

Leo and Iku’s house was on 409 Seventh Street East from 1963 or 1964 until 2000.

Their son Sho was born on January 31, 1941, in Japan, and immigrated to Canada with his mother at the age of 11. He resided in Revelstoke for most of his life before moving to Burnaby, BC, in 2007. He worked as an auto mechanic, and later as a heavy-duty mechanic at garages in Revelstoke. He married Hozumi (nee Nakamura), who was born in Canada and grew up in Revelstoke. They had two children: Trisha and Ryan. By the time that Sho and Hozumi moved to Burnaby, there had been five generations of the Takahashi family living in Revelstoke.

Sho Takahashi passed away on January 16, 2022, in Burnaby, BC, at the age of 80. Hozumi is still alive in Burnaby, BC, as of 2025.
