Kiheiji Tabayashi was born on February 8, 1906, in Japan to Minosuke and Eno Tabayashi. He was a clerk employed by Union Fish Company in Vancouver, BC.
Kimi Tabayashi (nee Maruno) was born on April 8, 1911, in Vancouver to Kichitaro and Yoshie (nee Onishi). She was a dressmaker employed by Elite Dressmaker in Vancouver. Kiheiji and Kimi married in 1932 and had one daughter, Kathryn Kiyomi.
The family was forcibly uprooted to Revelstoke in 1942. They lived in the Big Eddy district, and they built a house in 1945.
Kiheiji worked as a labourer while in Revelstoke. He was admitted to the New Denver sanatorium with tuberculosis in 1945, and died there on August 2, 1946 at the age of 40. Kimi & Kiyomi left for Lansing, Ontario in September 1947.
