Tajiro Ogino was born on January 23, 1901, in Shiga-ken, Japan, to Sentaro and Nui. He came to Canada in 1918. He was a restaurant manager employed by Fuji Chop Suey in Vancouver, BC.  

Eiko was born on July 2, 1909, in Vancouver to Sannosuke and Uta (nee Bando) Maikawa.  Tajiro and Eiko married on August 6, 1927, in Vancouver. They had two children: Eugene Saburo and Shiro. Eugene was the fourth son born to Taijiro and Eiko at that time, but the only one who survived to adulthood.

The family was forced to relocate to Revelstoke in 1942. Taijiro worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway until he retired.

Eugene Saburo Ogino was born on June 26, 1937, in Vancouver. He came to Revelstoke with his family in 1942. He grew up in Revelstoke and attended elementary and high school there. In high school, he met his future wife, Naomi Sakamoto. He received his Bachelor of Education from UBC to become a science teacher. In 1959, Eugene married Naomi and had three children: Tracy, Michael, and Brett. He taught for four years in Lillooet, BC, before moving to Salmon Arm, BC, where he continued his teaching career. Eugene’s youngest son Brett Ogino retired as Chief of the Sicamous Fire Department in 2024, and died on August 20, 2025

Taijiro Ogino passed away on May 10, 1981, in Revelstoke, at the age of 80. Eiko Ogino (nee Maikawa) passed away on May 21, 1999, in Revelstoke, at the age of 89.

Shiro Ogino passed away on July 2, 1948, in Revelstoke, at the age of 6.

Eugene Saburo Ogino passed away on July 14, 2018, in Salmon Arm at the age of 81.

Brett Ogino passed away on August 20, 2025 in Sicamous.
