Bringing History to the City

Heritage Cemetery Tours

Heritage Tours of Revelstoke’s Mountain View Cemetery are offered throughout the spring and summer. The cemetery was in use as early as 1890 and features many beautiful headstones and fascinating stories. The tour takes about one hour to one-and-a-half hours and focuses on the history of the cemetery grounds, stories of Revelstoke’s pioneers, a fascinating piece of B.C. history involving Sir James Hector and two unsolved murders.

Cemetery walks are scheduled during the summer; preregistration is not required.  Tours may also be requested by a group of four or more people.

Tours for 2017:

  • Thursday, July 13th at 7:00 pm
  • Thursday, July 27th at 7:00 pm

Cost is $5.00 per person. Meet at the cemetery gates or call the museum for a ride. Tours last approximately 1 and one half hour.

Mosquitoes have been very active this summer.  Consider applying bug spray.

Heavy rainfall and/or thunderstorms may cause walks to be cancelled.
