Heritage Explorers Children's Program

Your children can enjoy educational activities, crafts, and games in the museum and explore Revelstoke's heritage in a fun and interactive way.

The program runs every July and August, with a program each Thursday from 2:00 to 3:30 pm for children ages 4 to 7, and a program each Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm for children ages 8 to 12. The program cost is just $5 per child per session. To register, call the museum at 250-837-3067 or email program@revelstokemuseum.ca  Contact us to find out about subsidized spaces.

 Throughout the museum, we have a variety of children's activities as part of our exhibits, including an activity area in the program room on the 2nd floor. Ask for a scavenger hunt when you come to visit!

Week One

Theme Canada Day Celebration

Happy Canada Day! Come celebrate Canada’s 151st birthday at the Revelstoke Museum! We’ll be making some cool Canadian crafts and learning fun facts about our provinces and
territories.  

Week TWO 

Theme Exploring the Museum

July 10 (8 to 12 years)                                 July 12 (4 to 7 years) 

Come take a behind the scenes tour of the museum and learn about why museums are important to our communities. There will also be a fun and challenging scavenger hunt, so come ready to search!

Week Three

Theme Pioneer Craft Day

July 17  (8 to 12 years)                                 July 19 (4 to 7 years) 

Ever wondered what pioneer children used to do for fun? Come find out at the Revelstoke Museum! We’ll be making some crafts inspired by early 1900s toys as well as playing games from the same era.

Week four

Theme Indigenous Peoples Day

July 24  (8 to 12 years)                                 July 26 (4 to 7 years) 

Come to the Revelstoke Museum to learn about the history and cultures of the first peoples of Canada! We are working with the Aboriginal Friendship Society of Revelstoke to develop a fun and informative program, so stay tuned for more information. 

Week five

Theme In the Heritage Garden

July 31  (8 to 12 years)                                 August 2 (4 to 7 years) 

Come grow your green thumb at the Revelstoke Museum! This week we’ll be exploring our beautiful Heritage Garden, as well as trying our hand at gardening ourselves. We’ll also get outside to play in the fresh air (weather permitting)!

Week six

Theme Winter in August

August 7 (8 to 12 years)                                 August 9 (4 to 7 years) 

It’s winter in August at the Revelstoke Museum this week! We’ll be learning about the exciting history of skiing in Revelstoke, as well as making our own miniature skiers and playing some fun winter-themed games!

Week seven

Theme Canadian Animals

August 14 (8 to 12 years)                                 August 16 (4 to 7 years) 

This week we’ll learn about all the different amazing animals that live in our corner of Canada. Make your own eco-friendly bird feeder and follow tracks through the museum to find our four-legged friends!

Week eight

Theme Butter and Biscuits

August 21 (8 to 12 years)                                 August 23 (4 to 7 years) 

Our annual Butter and Biscuits event! Join us at the Revelstoke Museum and learn how to make butter the way the pioneers did, before enjoying a tea party with biscuits and your own homemade butter!
