Owen Harold Davies - Lest We Forget

Owen Harold Davies was born January 29, 1892 at Welshpool, Wales, the son of Edward and Mary E. Davies, also of Welshpool, Wales. Later they moved to Bryneglwys, Denbighshire.

Owen Harold Davies signed his enlistment papers October 29, 1915 at Vernon. He was 23 years old, single, 5’ 8 ½” tall with brown hair and blue eyes. His religious affiliation was Baptist, although his name appears on the Revelstoke Methodist Honor Roll. His name also appears on the YMCA Honor Roll. He had been working as a lineman for the CPR. Owen had joined the 54th Battalion.

Owen Harold Davies died April 9, 1917 in the battle for Vimy Ridge. He was 23 years old. At the time of his death he was a Private with the 54th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario) Regiment. His regimental number was 443864. He had been awarded the Military Medal. He is buried in Canadian Cemetery #2, Pas de Calais, France.

The name of Owen Davies is inscribed on the Courthouse and Cenotaph plaques.
