Mission Statement:

Revelstoke Museum & Archives keeps alive the history and heritage of Revelstoke and district by collecting, preserving, documenting and interpreting thView from the first tee down the first fairwaye artifacts, records and stories of the region in a public community museum.   The Museum and Archives is a place where all are welcome to participate, to learn, to share, and to explore the social, industrial and environmental history of the region.

Revelstoke Museum and Archives is housed in a 1926 federal building, built as the Post Office and Customs Office. It is a two-story brick building and the exterior has never been drastically altered. Inside the building, the terrazzo and marble flooring in the hallways and entrance still exists, and the original fir flooring on the second floor has been restored. Much of the woodwork is original, and the large built-in storage vault is still in place on the second floor. The building was purchased by the City of Revelstoke in 1971 and has housed the Revelstoke Museum and Archives since 1974. A recent addition of a wheelchair lift in the Heritage Garden area provides access to the main floor.

The Manager/Curator of Revelstoke Museum and Archives is Cathy English, who has worked at this facility since 1983. She is very familiar with the history of this region and with the extensive artifact and archival collections held by the museum and archives. She is happy to assist researchers.
