Old fashioned races

Egg and spoon, sack & three-legged races, 12.45pm to 2.00pm, Okanagan College playing field. For kids ages 5 – 12 years. Parents must register their children before taking part.

 

Bike decorating contest

Decorate, paint up or deck out your bike for the chance to win a great prize. Judging starts at 11am and the winner will be announced at 11.30am.

 

Storytelling for kids

Indigenous crafts

Make your own indigenous necklace with feathers and beads, with Patty Shonek.

 

Make your own medicine bag and learn about the traditional, medicinal herbs used by the First People of this area, with Jannica Hoskins.

 

Bubble making

Make a bubble wand and bubble away!

 

Japanese crafts

Origami. Learn this popular Japanese craft with Yuko and Tomo.

 

See how your name is written in Japanese and make a ‘Rain Boy’ to ward off the rain this summer, with Mimi Nakamura.

 

Tangram puzzle making

Try your hand at this ancient Chinese dissection puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together to form shapes.

 

Whizzing Whirligig Station

Learn how to make this nifty toy from pioneering times using just a button and string.

 

The Friends of Mount Revelstoke and Glacier

Don’t forget to pay a visit to your “Friends” and learn how to design and create your own picture frame using natural materials found in the woods.  Take this opportunity to renew your Friends membership or signup for this summer’s Jr. Naturalist Program.  The Friends will also introduce their Art in the Park “Photography Club” for Teens.  If you’re between the ages of 13-18, are interested in photography, and are looking for a chance to capture some of the pristine nature that exists in our parks then this is the program for you.
